Brief on the Participation of the World Coastal Forum Coordination Group in the 2024 International Symposium of Getbol World Heritage, Songdo, Republic of Korea

From April 17 to 19, 2024, invited by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, RoK, World Coastal Forum Coordination Group (WCFCG) Facilitators (Hai Alex Zhang and Nicola Crockford) and Task Team 5 (TT5) on Science and Evidence co-lead, Professor Bill Sutherland, attended the 2024 International Symposium of Getbol World Heritage in Incheon.

 

WCFCG Facilitators introduced and updated about the activities of the WCF and TT5 co-lead introduced the Coastal Management and Restoration Toolkit including promoting the newly completed module "Evidence-Based Guidelines for the Restoration, Creation, and Management of Salt Marshes and Tidal Flats".

 

 

 

In the margins of the meeting, the WCFCG representatives had friendly exchanges with the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, RoK, Korea Marine Environment Management Corporation (KOEM), the Green Climate Fund, ICLEI, and the East Asian - Australasian Flyway Partnership, exploring potential opportunities for future collaboration. The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, RoK and KOEM suggested strengthening cooperation through the international platform of the WCF, exploring opportunities for conservation in synergy and engaging in regional exchanges.
